Libertarian Party of Canada Convention 2005 |
You are invited to the rebirth of the federal party after it successfully achieved re-registration. The party will be holding its first convention as an officially registered party since 1996.
Tradition has been to hold our convention on the Victoria Day weekend. Following that tradition, the convention will be held on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, 2005, Victoria Day weekend.
The convention will feature a variety of speakers, including:
The Possibility of Libertyand conducting a seminar
The Battlefield or the Marketplace?.
Liberty in Canada and in the World, 1975 to the Present.
There will be elections for the party executive and other party business. Your Master of Ceremonies will be George Dance.
The convention will be Saturday, May 21 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the morning of Sunday, May 22. Sunday is nominally a half day, with Sunday afternoon being available if business goes over time. A detailed agenda will be posted here.

The convention is open to all members and friends fo the LPC who have paid admission. The cost is $95 (CDN) for registrations mailed prior to March 15, 2005, and $110 (CDN) after. This includes all activities, one lunch and three snacks. Accommodation is not included.
Voting is restricted to LPC members who have registered 30 days prior to the convention. Please note that voting members must sign the LPC Statement of Principles, which is included on the convention registration form. The Party membership fee is $10; this fee is waived for this year if you return a completed Elections Canada EC20036 form, as part of our special membership drive which we are conducting in order to maintain official party status with Elections Canada.
If you are not able to attend the convention, you may vote by proxy, by completing the appropriate section of the convention registration form. The full convention registration fee is not required, however there is a $5 fee for handling proxy votes. Please note that Party bylaws state that in order to vote by proxy, one must have been a voting member for 90 days prior to the convention.
